On Friday, March 8th, 52 enthusiastic Aquinas students took part in 'Clean-Up Australia Day', embarking on a mission across campus to tackle discarded waste and unsightly rubbish. Much to our satisfaction, the campus presented a cleaner picture compared to previous years, showcasing the positive impact of our ongoing efforts.

Venturing beyond the campus grounds, some students took to the waters in dinghies, exploring under the Mt Henry Bridge in search of debris. Their reports revealed a pleasant surprise - minimal sightings of plastic and fast-food containers, signifying a potential reduction in environmental pollution. Amidst the clean-up, one lucky student stumbled upon a Nerf gun, sparking excitement and earning a cherished keepsake for his efforts.

A big thank you is extended to the invaluable assistance provided by John Speechley, Maddison Nicholls, Jen Knox, John Richards, and Megan Monks, who dedicated their time on a Friday afternoon to support our cause.

As a reminder to all students, engaging in rubbish collection anywhere counts as service hours. Let us not forget the ongoing need for environmental stewardship, extending our efforts to the rivers and oceans, where human-created waste continues to pose a threat to ecosystems.
