Thanks to the incredible support and help from volunteers and staff, Clean Up Australia Day 2021 was an incredible success.
In order to really deal with the rubbish around the College grounds and surrounding community, the Year 12's (guided by Mr West – a keen environmentalist) led a fleet of 5 tinnies around the river, landing at Salter Point, the Aquinas Peninsula, and the Narrows Bridge beach. In doing so, we gathered numerous bags of harmful garbage that could endanger the natural wildlife that is incredibly well kept, not only in our peninsula but all over Australia. A big thanks must go out to the skippers that gave up their time, Cameron Goeree, Isaac Klomp - two other captains proceeded with their expertise in this regard.
On the other hand, our deepest gratitude goes to the staff and volunteers that worked tirelessly to clean our incredible campus. Thanks to them, our College can retain its pristine condition. And this was truly evident after the 2 hours of sweat-breaking work, with only the satisfaction of aiding the environment in return. These boys and staff members truly did a magnificent job, resulting in most of a skip bin being filled with numerous items of trash. Some stand-out items included a hub cap, an old car tire, numerous shoes and thongs, and an old basketball ring. Overall truly a successful afternoon.
