The 2021 Service council was under much pressure with the previous year’s council having COVID restrictions, which meant that 2021 Edmund Rice Day had to be a complete Spectacle. As a result, both the council and Mr Richards pooled together ideas in order to make this Edmund Rice day more memorable. Evidently, we decided upon incorporating the entire school into the stall process, with every tutor group brainstorming up a stall idea, and then operating it on the day. It ensured that all students could be a part of the Aquinian culture, one of great service and character. Evidently, it was great to see that the entire college could come together to form what was a great day for an even greater cause.

Edmund Rice Day this year was an opportunity to embrace what Edmund Rice held in such high esteem - helping others. We took this as an opportunity to educate each other on the work six charitable organisations around Australia do to help others with guest speakers from Edmund Rice Camps for kids, Edmund Rice Center - Mirrabooka, Wheelchairs for kids, Caritas, Shopfront and a speaker from the Edmund Rice Ministry in Arusha, Tanzania. All of these organisations embrace the Edmund Rice spirit of serving those with fewer opportunities than us. Hence, it was a fitting decision to focus on the education of such actions in honour of Edmund Rice Day this year. We hope that this becomes a tradition to continue to celebrate the identity of Aquinas, as an Edmund Rice school.

The day could not have been such a success without the ongoing support of Mr Mavros, Mr Richards and Mr Rich in addition to other volunteering staff and students. WE would like to thank everyone on behalf of the Aquinas community for making such an important day happen.
